on 10th Muharram 61AH (day of ashura) the battle was fought between the Grandson of Prophet Muhammad Imam Hussain (a.s) with Yazid (l.a) where Yazid (l.a) was with around lakhs soldier's and Imam Hussain (a.s) was with his family members including women`s and children`s.
There are some people who tell that Imam (a.s) want to rule so he fought the battle let me clarify that the person who want to do battle he will never go with his families in the battle ground.
After the death of Muawiyah (l.a) Yazid (l.a) become the Ruler and the first work he do was he send Imam Hussain (a.s) letter for Bayat (surrender and follow him) but Imam (a.s) refuses his (l.a) proposal and then Yazid (l.a) ordered his commander to kill Imam (a.s) and after the order of Yazid (l.a) it was not possible to live in Medina so Imam (a.s) decided to migrate from there to other city.
So on 28th Rajab Imam (a.s) Migrate from Medina with his families and in between the journey army of around thousand`s Soldier`s with Janabe Hur as a commander Stop Imam (a.s) force Imam (a.s) to move towards Karbala.
While moving towards Karbala Imam (a.s) saw that the Enemies are thirsty and Imam (a.s) serves his water to them and there animal that what Islam teach to us to serve the needy people whether it may be your enemy .
On 2nd Muharram Imam (a.s) reaches to Karbala and get settled there huts near River Furat and When Imam (a.s) saw that Army`s are increasing as the time passes so Imam (a.s) decided to write letters to near one and when Imam (a.s) was in journey there was around thousand`s peoples with him but has the day pass the counting starts getting less and finally on day of Ashura the Counting remains at 72 with a 6 month little child Ali Asgar(a.s).
